At California Sign Advertising, we can custom design your logo or project using the latest in design software, or we can output your existing artwork.

We can accept most of the popular digital file formats if you already have digital artwork you wish to use. Below are the guidelines to use when sending us digital files, and the file formats we accept.

  • Microsoft Office programs such as PowerPoint, Word or Publisher are not considered true graphic programs.
  • Avoid using low resolution jpg or bitmap files.
  • Graphic Files originally created for Internet use cannot be used effectively for production.

*Note: These are the file types that we prefer. However, we may be able to use other file types. If your file does not match one of the file types below, it does not necessarily mean we cannot use it.

Accepted File Types

.ai

Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator files from Illustrator CS5 and below, PC format. Convert all fonts to outlines. Please outline any and all strokes before sending Adobe Illustrator files.

.eps

EPS Files
Most design applications will allow files to be exported or saved as EPS files. If possible in the program you are using, convert the fonts to curves/outlines. If you are using outlines/strokes in your artwork, please have them converted to shapes prior to exporting them from the program you are using to create the EPS file. If you have the option of saving as a PC or Mac file, choose PC.

.pdf

Adobe PDF Files
Be sure to check the "Embed Fonts" box when saving the PDF file.

.psd

Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop files from version CS3and below, PC format. Be sure to rasterize fonts used in the file.

.cdr

CorelDRAW
CorelDRAW files from version 10 and below, PC format. Convert all fonts to curves. If you have used outlines on your artwork, either convert the outlines to curves or be sure the outlines scale with the image.

.cpt

Corel PhotoPaint
Corel PhotoPaint files from version 10 and below, PC format. Be sure to rasterize fonts used in the file.

.tif

TIFF Images
Tiff images are bitmap files (tiny colored squares that make up an image) that are meant for printing purposes. These files are preferable over .jpg, .gif, and .bmp files.

.bmp

Bitmap Images
Bitmap files are similar to Tiff images, but are not really meant for printing purposes. These images are usually meant to be viewed on a computer screen. However, we can use BMP images if no other images are available.

.jpg

JPEG Images
A JPEG image is a Bitmap file that is most often used on webpages. These images are usually quite small and may not be suitable for printing purposes. Provide us with this type of file if no other is available, and we will determine if it can be used or not.

.gif

GIFF Images
A GIF image is very similar to a JPEG image. These are used on webpages and are small, low quality images. While some JPEG files may be suitable for printing, virtually all GIF images are not. Provide us with this type of file if no other is available, and we will determine if it suits your needs.
